Yazmin Pinchen

Yazmin was born on 3rd June 1993 in Redhill, Surrey, and currently lives in Rusper, West Sussex: she has been involved with horses all her life, as her mother has also taken a big interest in show-jumping, herself competing until a few years ago.

Yazmin started riding at three years old and competed in Pony Club activities until she was eight, when she and her sister, Jorden, joined BS (British Showjumping, formally known as BSJA), successfully competing on 128cm ponies and then producing young novice ponies to qualify for Horse of the Year Show. Aged 12, Yazmin moved on to 138cm ponies and had her first major success, winning a gold medal for England as part of the Pony Team in Cavan, Ireland, on Gemstone Jet. In the same year, Yazmin started competing a Drimna Magic Lady, a novice 148cm Connemara, progressing from novice classes of 95cm to qualifying for both Horse of the Year Show and the JC final in Hickstead's main ring. This pony never came home without a rosette and was placed in many International shows, as well as winning the Intro Grand Prix at Pony of the Year show, and really helped Yazmin's riding and confidence grow.

In 2008, Fabian and Edsilia joined Yazmin's team of 148cm ponies, bringing her greater success: in 2008 and 2009, she qualified them for Horse of the Year Show and won, and had many top placings, at major UK shows, and represented GB in Nation Cups (where she won Gold and Silver team medals) as well International Shows abroad.

Now sixteen, Yazmin has made the transition from ponies to horses, with her string including two homebred mares, Ashkari and Lola, both of whom are showing a lot of scope and promise. When not competing, Yazmin is currently spending time at Michael Whitaker's yard where she is not only gaining valuable riding experience on different horses of all levels, but also learning "top yard" stable management and show turnout skills.

Yazmin's ambitions are: to qualify for Horse of the Year Show, Hickstead, British Open and Olympia; to jump consistent double clears in 1.40m (and above) classes; to represent her country in Nation Cup team events and, hopefully, one day, compete in the Olympics.
